April Rider has exited RPM Entertainment Group. Rider joined RPM in 2012 as Sr. VP of Promotion then rose to General Manager and finally President filling the shoes of former President Scott Siman who excited RPM in 2015.
Her resume stops also include UMG Regional, CURB Records Regional, National and Vice President of Promotion and BBR Music Group’s General Manager of Stoney Creek Records. “I am now pretty well schooled in more than just record label promotion, marketing and management. Now I can add artist development and artist management to my skill set. I have a lot to offer and I am confident the right team is out there for me,” says Rider.
No word on the future of RPM.
April Rider started out in Country Music working as a promotion rep for an Independent promotion company until tapped by UMG’s Decca Records as a Mid-West Regional where she became part of the team that launched Lee Ann Womack, Gary Allan and Rhett Atkins music careers. After the iconic label folded back into MCA in 99, Rider became the Manager of East Coast Promotion at CURB Records where she later rose to National Director and eventually Vice President of Promotion working side by side promoting artists like Tim McGraw, Jo Dee Messina, Hank Williams Jr, Rodney Atkins, LeAnn Rimes and Wynonna Judd. Rider was instrumental in helping to lead CURB Records to a decade of monstrous radio airplay success like Tim McGraw’s Artist of the Decade award in 2010.
Rider left CURB in 2010 to partner with her former CURB Records boss and mentor Carson James at Broken Bow Records. As BBR’s newest General Manager, Rider was tasked with dusting off BBR’s Stoney Creek record label and launching new country music duo Thompson Square. In one year she lead SCR to the #1 most played song in Country Music with the smash hit ”Are You Gonna Kiss Me Or Not”. Thompson Square went on to win numerous industry awards and Stoney Creek went on to sign Randy Houser, Parmalee and Lindsay Ell. In 2012 Rider accepted a position with long time friend and former Tim McGraw manager Scott Siman at RPM Entertainment. Rider soon rose to General Manager and eventually became RPM President filling the shoes of Siman after his 2015 RPM exit. Rider lead the charge for the development, marketing and launch of country music artist Maggie Rose. Rider co-managed Rose, Trent Tomlinson and Cody Webb and oversaw radio promotion efforts for singles by Rose, Tomlinson, Chase Rice, Uncle Kracker and Tate Stevens.

The Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum will feature items on display from award-winning singer-songwriter Don McLean in its long-running, permanent exhibition Sing Me Back Home: A Journey Through Country Music beginning January 12, 2018. Rotated often, these short-term, informal displays provide a closer look at a particular person or special anniversaries in country music’s history.
“Alan Stoker, Curator of Recorded Sound Collections at the Country Music Hall of Fame, is the son of my friend Gordon Stoker who founded The Jordanaires and who I recorded with for many years,” says McLean. “I have so many long-term and beautiful associations with musicians and music business professionals who have loved me and my music for decades. As a strange musical hybrid of some kind, I was always welcome in Nashville without reservation. I would like to add whatever I can to the storied past of country music as a musical representative of Americana.”
Artifacts on loan to the museum include:
- 1997 Martin Model D-40DM Don McLean signature acoustic guitar (#7 of only 71 built). McLean has toured with the guitar since 1999 and it was played on the ‘Starry, Starry Night’ PBS TV special the same year. That special was also released as a CD/DVD and features Garth Brooks and Nancy Griffith.
- A selection from complete, never before seen manuscript pages inclusive of “Vincent” (Starry, Starry Night) which McLean wrote as a tribute to Vincent Van Gogh. These are the original pages on which the song was composed, numbering over a dozen. They were written on the colored legal-sized paper McLean used for the “American Pie” composition manuscript, on display as a color photo static copy, and which sold in 2015 for $1.2 million dollars at Christie’s Auction House. Both songs were composed in 1970 and both manuscripts show numerous cross outs and other ideas which did not appear in the final songs.
Items on display in the museum’s long-time, permanent exhibition, Sing Me Back Home, are updated frequently. By regularly rotating displays, the museum offers a glimpse into its unique collection of over 2.5 million artifacts, which includes recorded discs; historical photographs; films and videotapes; thousands of posters; books; songbooks; periodicals and sheet music; personal artifacts such as performers’ instruments, costumes and accessories; and more. Recent rotating displays in Sing Me Back Home have featured John Anderson, Bob Moore, Ray Stevens and Keith Whitley.

A New York native, Don McLean is one of the most revered and respected songwriters in American history. After paying his dues in the New York club scene in the late ‘60s, he went on to score mega-hits like “American Pie,” “Vincent (Starry, Starry Night),” “Castles in the Air” and many more. In 2004, McLean was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame by country superstar Garth Brooks. “American Pie” has brought great happiness and hope to millions of people through the years and continues to be honored for its success.
