Three-Time GRAMMY Winner to Be Recognized at Annual Fundraising Event for His Contributions to American Music

GRAMMY Museum® Mississippi To Host A Red Carpet Media Event Starting At 4:30 pm On Friday, Nov. 1

WHO:
Three-time GRAMMY® Award-winning, Mississippi-born country artist Charley Pride will be the inaugural recipient of GRAMMY Museum® Mississippi’s Crossroads of American Music Award at the Mississippi Museum’s 2019 Gala on Friday, Nov. 1, at 6 p.m. Established by the Museum’s Board of Directors, the Crossroads of American Music Award honors an artist who has made significant musical contributions influenced by the creativity born in the cradle of American music. Pride will appear at the Museum’s 2019 Gala to accept the award on Nov. 1 at the Museum in Cleveland, Miss.

WHAT:
The theme for the 2019 GRAMMY Museum Mississippi Gala is “Girls, Guitars, & Rocktail Bars.” The event, developed by the Mississippi Museum’s Red Carpet Guild — an organization of committed volunteers whose mission is to promote, support and sustain the Mississippi Museum — will take place on Friday, Nov. 1, at 6 p.m. The event will feature a reception, dinner and cocktails, live music from Nashville country pop trio Southern Halo and Memphis’ Almost Famous and a special performance from Charley Pride, and a live auction.

The annual GRAMMY Museum Mississippi Gala is the Museum’s signature fundraising event, with proceeds benefiting the Museum’s education program, which seeks to use music as a gateway to learning by inspiring and cultivating creativity, critical thinking and self-expression.

GRAMMY Museum Mississippi’s Board of Directors established the Crossroads of American Music Award to honor an artist who has made significant musical contributions influenced by the creativity born in the cradle of American music. The recipient will be honored at the annual GRAMMY Museum Mississippi Gala, with proceeds going toward supporting the Museum’s education programs. GRAMMY Museum Mississippi’s education programs are designed to support its mission to use music as a gateway to learning by inspiring and cultivating creativity, critical thinking, and self-expression.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
Media are invited to cover the 2019 GRAMMY Museum Mississippi Gala. If you are interested in covering this event, you MUST request credentials no later than 6 p.m., on Wednesday, Oct. 30. Credentials will be picked up at media check-in on the day of the event. ALL MEDIA MUST BRING PHOTO I.D. All crews must be self-contained ENG crews. All satellite truck/van parking must be coordinated with Crystal Larsen no later than 12 p.m., Friday, Nov. 1. ALL MEDIA MUST BE CREDENTIALED for this event.
