Country music singer/songwriter J.D. Shelburne has been named by Texas Roadhouse as May’s ‘Artist of the Month’ nationwide. His latest single, “Straight From Kentucky,” written by J.D. Shelburne, Phil O’Donnell and Tyler Booth will be featured in all 587 locations, seen by over 20,000 guests at each store every month. Former Artists of the Month include John Pardi, Kelsea Ballerini, Granger Smith, Kenny Chesney, Kacey Musgraves, Justin Moore, George Strait and more.

Grammy Award winning, Songwriters Hall of Fame Member John Prine passed away at age 73 due to Covid-19. Writing for big industry names such as Johnny Cash, George Strait, Don Williams, the Everly Brothers, Carl Perkins and Bette Midler, all while being a singer, author, actor and record label owner, leaves Prine with one of the most renowned legacies in music history. Prine was not only a poetic prodigy, but a friend to many in the music and entertainment industry.

This well-known magazine is sent out to 460,000 homes and will instill Shelburne’s admirable sense of state pride in the hearts of many. Known for his unwavering work ethic, undeniable talent and strong Kentucky roots, Shelburne embodies the ‘Unbridled Spirit’ of the Bluegrass State in an all-new digital & social media series called Sound Travels to promote Kentucky’s 2020 year of music. Other accomplished Kentucky artists in the documentary include Grand Ole Opry member John Conlee, Billie Renee Johnson and Billy Goat Strut Revue. Fellow Artists and Friends Remember and Mourn The Loss of Grand Ole Opry Great Jan Howard and Country Music’s “Pickup Man,” Joe Diffie
Nineties country-music hitmaker Joe Diffie died Sunday, March 29th due to complications related to COVID-19. The feel-good tunes that Diffie created continue to bless fans around the world. In all, Diffie charted 18 Top 10 singles, with the majority reaching the top five, including 1993 radio essentials “Prop Me Up Beside the Jukebox (If I Die)” and iconic song, “John Deere Green.” Diffie’s popular hits also include “Home,” “Third Rock From the Sun,” “Pickup Man,” “If the Devil Danced (In Empty Pockets),” and “Bigger Than the Beatles.”
Chart-topping country leading lady and 49 year member of the Grand Ole Opry, Jan Howard, died peacefully on Saturday, March 28th at age 91 in Gallatin, Tennessee. In 1960 Howard relocated from Los Angeles to Nashville, where she began appearing on the Opry. Howard would sing demos of songs including “I Fall to Pieces,” a monumental success for Patsy Cline. Howard would also team with Opry star Bill Anderson on a number of duets, including her sole number one, “For Loving You.” After a recording career with Capitol Records, she was signed to Decca’s label, landing a top five single with “Evil on Your Mind.”

Country music recording artist, and Kentucky-native J.D. Shelburne has recorded the one song that he was seemingly destined to record: “Straight From Kentucky”. Co-written with hit-making songwriter Phil O’Donnell (George Strait, Craig Morgan, Trace Adkins) and fellow Kentucky native Tyler Booth, the song digitally released today, and is the first song from his highly anticipated new album due out later this summer.
