January 7, 2026 Pledge of Allegiance recited on The White House lawn
WASHINGTON, D.C. – A brisk Washington, D.C. morning, in the 7am (EST) hour, on the lawn of The White House is where country music award-winning hitmaker Neal McCoy stood to recite and celebrate the 10th anniversary of his daily ‘Pledge of Allegiance’ live on Facebook/Meta. January 7, 2016 was the beginning of something that McCoy never thought would become what it is today. Now, with legions of followers and 10 years later, McCoy faced one of the newly erected US flags on the north lawn of The White House to recite the Pledge of Allegiance.
“Patriotism is not political,” says McCoy. “Today is a big milestone for me and for all the followers that tune in each day to recite the Pledge of Allegiance with me. I am honored to be in the nation’s capital and especially the White House. It is such a historical building and one of the most worldly known buildings, so to be welcomed inside the gates and to honor our flag and America here is really something.”
The US Flag Code of Reciting the Pledge of Allegiance:
The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag: "I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all," should be rendered by standing at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. When not in uniform, men should remove any non-religious headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart. Persons in uniform should remain silent, face the flag, and render the military salute. Members of the Armed Forces not in uniform and veterans may render the military salute in the manner provided for persons in uniform.
