Tulsa Event to Celebrate Legendary Artist Manager Jim Halsey and His Lasting Impact on the Music Industry

Tuesday, June 2nd Concert at ORU Global Learning Center / Mabee Center Will Feature Live CMA Nashville Simulcast, Performances by Oklahoma Artists, VIP Dinner and Scholarship Benefit

TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa will host a special An Evening with Impresario Jim Halsey honoring the legendary artist manager on Tuesday, June 2 at 7 p.m. at the ORU Global Learning Center / Mabee Center as he receives the Country Music Association’s Touring Lifetime Achievement Award.

The evening, formally titled The Jim Halsey CMA Touring Lifetime Achievement Celebration Concert, will be an unforgettable night of music, storytelling and celebration honoring one of the most influential figures in entertainment history.

While the CMA presents the honor live in Nashville, guests in Tulsa will share in the historic moment through a live induction simulcast during the concert, as The Oak Ridge Boys present the award from Nashville honoring Halsey’s extraordinary career and lasting impact on the touring and entertainment industry. Halsey, who at age 95 will remain in Tulsa for the celebration, will mark the occasion alongside friends, colleagues and artists whose careers he helped shape throughout his remarkable legacy.

The prestigious award recognizes individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to the growth and impact of live touring and whose influence has helped shape the country music industry for generations.

For more than 60 years, Halsey has been a pioneering force in the music industry, beginning his career representing country music legend Hank Thompson, the first artist he managed, and later guiding the careers of iconic performers including Roy Clark, Reba McEntire, Merle Haggard and The Oak Ridge Boys. Widely known for expanding the international reach of country music, Halsey’s artists have performed at legendary venues such as Radio City Music HallMadison Square Garden and London’s Royal Albert Hall, helping elevate the genre to audiences around the world through groundbreaking tours and global performances.

Over the course of his career, Halsey and his organization have guided, promoted or managed the careers of dozens of prominent entertainers, including 29 inductees of the Country Music Hall of Fame and 10 inductees of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, underscoring his lasting influence on the music industry.

The June 2 concert will feature performances by Oklahoma artists who have been managed or represented by Halsey during his remarkable career, including Jana Jae, Shelby Eicher, Don White, Kyle Dillingham, Alaska & Madi, Leona Mitchell, acclaimed pianist Barron Ryan and legendary musician and longtime Roy Clark bandleader Rodney Lay, whose career spans both country and rock ’n’ roll. The program will be emceed by Tulsa historian and author John Wooley.

V.I.P. Dinner and Pre-show will begin at 6:00 p.m., followed by the concert at 7:00 p.m. Table seating is available.

Proceeds from the evening will support scholarships for deserving Oklahoma students pursuing careers in the music industry. A silent auction featuring signed artist memorabilia will also benefit the scholarship fund.
