Andrew Farriss, co-founder and chief songwriter of INXS, is celebrating today’s announcement that INXS has been nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Farriss said the band is “thrilled and excited” to receive the honor, as INXS joins the 2026 ballot unveiled this morning.

A principal architect of the INXS sound, Farriss co-wrote a catalog that helped define modern rock radio—songs that remain cultural staples worldwide. Reflecting on the enduring connection between the music and the people who’ve carried it forward for decades, Farriss has often emphasized gratitude for the journey: First of all, I feel fortunate and lucky,” he said in a previous interview, underscoring the rare longevity of a body of work that continues to reach new generations.

Farriss also noted that late frontman Michael Hutchence would be “honored” by the nomination—an acknowledgment of the band’s shared history and the spirit that still surrounds INXS’ music today.

In parallel with the Rock Hall recognition, Farriss continues to build a vibrant solo career that’s earned critical acclaim and major milestones. His 2021 self-titled debut produced high-rotation favorites including “Come Midnight” and “Good Momma Bad,” followed by the Golden Guitar-nominated “With The Kelly Gang,” and a Grand Ole Opry debut in 2024 alongside Keith Urban. Farriss will release his much-anticipated new album The Prospector in 2026, expanding the country/Americana storytelling he’s embraced so fully: As a songwriter, country is stories and it’s awesome. I love that type of music, I always have.
